After deploying an RDS (formerly Terminal Server) server for a client recently, every time a user started Outlook 2013 they received the message “Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office 64-bit Components 2013”.
This slows up the Outlook load time by a second or two and doesn’t look very good, so let’s look at how to resolve it.
The issue was caused by the Windows Search Service not being installed.
In Server Manager, click Manage, Add Roles and Feaures.
Click through the wizard until you get to Features, select the Windows Search Service.
Click Next and Install, and give the server a reboot once complete.
Your users should now be able to start Outlook 2013 with the “Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office 64-bit Components 2013” message appearing ever again!
